Fear...

So reading the article "Female Fear Factor", really got me thinking. I found that this article related to my mother very well. The woman from the article where they were talking about the flame resistant mattress, reminded me very much of my mother. My mom would have FREAKED out if she would have saw the segment. I guarantee I would have come home to find her on the Internet trying to buy these mattresses. It's crazy to know how the media can focus on one demographic, and scare them so bad, that it will make them do anything they say. I just find it extremely crazy. So crazy that these women would give in to these stories and hang onto their every word.

KILLERRR... whale

I am still shocked to find out that the same killer whale; that has already killed a couple other trainers, has killed yet another Sea World trainer. If it wasn't endangered, I bet they would kill it. Honestly, they should kill the whale since it has killed so many of its trainers already. I think it's weird how when they are doing the shows, they know it's a trainer and they don't kill it. But if there is not a show, and someone falls in the tank, it will kill them. It's just weird that they "don't know" that it's a trainer. I still can't believe that it killed the trainer in front of a huge crowd though. I can't imagine seeing that if I was a little kid. I would be scarred for life! All those parents have to probably sit their kids down and explain to them what happened now. I also feel really bad for that trainers family. One of my really close friends' dads is a killer whale trainer at the Sea World in San Diego and I can't imagine how hard it would be on them if they found out that it was there dad who died from the whale.

True or False?

So as I was reading Jessica's essay about alcohol ads, I realized that its so true that you never see an alcohol ad that shows them waking up in a hospital or next to a random person. It's so true that when you drink too much, you can end up in the hospital getting your stomach pumped from alcohol poisoning or just throwing up all over the place. One of my best friends older brothers had to get his stomach pumped one time because he had way too much to drink. He ended up passing out and not responding to any of his friends so they called his parents and took to get his stomach pumped. It was pretty scary to hear about it but thats just the reality to drinking. These ads that they show you like this one are not what will happen to you if you drink. Dorky business guys are not going to end up with a model just because they had a couple drinks. In fact, it will probably be the opposite of that. So next time you go to drink alcohol at a party or bar or where ever, think twice about what can happen to you if you have too much.

hmmm face lift much?

So one of the things that I am going to be talking about in my essay is about how there are so many commercials on the TV right now for face creams. I love how all of them use a celebrity that is either NOT old at all or an old one that had a face lift done. Twiggy is a celeb that you can just tell has had a face lift done and that they air brushed her in this ad. It's really sad to me that some older women actually believe that these creams will get rid of their wrinkles. One, its not going to. Two, they probably had a face lift or some kind of plastic surgery done. Three, its air brushed. And four, they probably aren't even that old to begin with. Twiggy is a perfect example of a celeb that had a face lift. If you look at pictures of her from a couple years ago, its obvious.

Old Navy? No thanks...

I couldn't help but laugh when we talked about Old Navy and Ikea in class the other day. When i was little, I use to shop here all the time. It was one of my favorite stores and I would spend a ton of money there with my mom. My mom loved it because it was cheap and she didn't have to drive far to take me there since there was one right down the street from us. She also liked it because she didn't have to take me to the mall to see all the other stores because I would want to spend more money than usual if she did take me. However, I have not set foot in an Old Navy store since I was about 11 because I started to hate their clothes. They were so cheap and would rip so easily that I had to constantly go back to buy more. I realized that its better to buy more expensive clothing that will last longer than having to keep buying clothes over and over at Old Navy. However, I do love Forever21 and their clothes are super cheap too, but at least Forever21 has a better style sense than Old Navy.

Ikea lover

so while we were having our discussion about old navy and ikea and how they are cheap versions of the real thing. i couldn't help but think that my mothers loves ikea. she redid our whole living room full of furniture, table pieces, frames, and so much more. i remember going into the store and as described in the reading you actually don't have a choice to skip through and they go pay. you literally have to walk through the whole store just to get to the register. now don't get me wrong i myslef love ikea too and have some items from their in my room and bathroom as well, but their products are at an affordable price for many people to redecorate without spending an arm and a leg. for example after my mom brought two mirrors from ikea for $19.99, so after we left ikea we headed to target yes they are two different stores but we seen the same exact mirrors in target for $39.99 each. therefore we came out with the better buy at ikea. these authors are stating their points but its the though that who is really paying attention to whether ikea is a replicate of something else thats really expensive. samething with old navy, they are forever having sales which is good now being that it is a recession. so they clothes tear but what clothes doesn't. everyone is not able to afford the most well-cottoned or well sewn shirt because those be the most expensive clothes.
